Current Fundraisers

During the 2nd week of August, when we were running our ever popular Musical Theatre program at the Kamloops United Church, there was a fire in one of the many spaces we rented for the program. As a result, we had to evacuate 40 children and 7 staff (plus Mozzie our office dog!). Thankfully we were given a safe space down the road at Kelson Hall to finish out our musical theatre program.

What many may not know is that in addition to having an office attached the the United Church, we also rent a space in the basement of the church for instrument storage. While the fire itself meant that we lost rented production supplies, costumes, some of our participant's belongings, show materials and more, it also left 3/4 of our instruments vulnerable to additional damage. When we were able to finally get into this space, we realized the full scope of this damage, which was extensive.

While, there was no fire in the basement, the water, humidity and smoke did not prove to be an ideal environment for our instruments. About 2/3 of our instruments in this storage space were molded, or damaged by water. We are of course working with insurance, but with this level of damage, it is clear that insurance will not cover the full depth of this loss. So on that note we are asking for the support of the amazing Kamloops community!

Help us recover from the fire and water damage from the events this past summer at the Kamloops United Church. Our secondary storage space at the church housed most of our instruments that we use consistently at our programs and those that we lend to the community throughout the year.

Many are aware of the fire that occurred this summer at the Kamloops United Church, however most do not realize that we had a second storage space in the KUC basement. We are running a Fall 50/50 to raise funds toward recovering from the heartbreaking loss of over half of our instruments and equipment,  that is regularly used in our programs.
