How it works
Whole Note is a year-long program that supports and funds restricted-income youth through:
-
A series of 10 music lessons (instrument or voice) with accredited music teachers in the community to a maximum $250
-
$545 scholarship to the Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music, which is hosted annually for three weeks in July
-
Opportunities for students to perform with and be mentored by members of local music groups
-
The program also provides students with a set of professional photos with their instrument and a Whole Note T-shirt
Students eligible to apply for the Whole Note Program include:
-
Kamloops emerging musicians in Grade 6 through 11 who are involved in their school’s music program and have shown a firm commitment to music
-
Those who live in a household with a combined income $70,000 or less. Verification is required through Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment for the previous 2 years for each guardian in the household (assessment is made on gross income)
-
Whole Note will consider applications from households with annual incomes of more than $70,000 that include clear description of need
-
Students who have shown a firm commitment to music, this commitment should be described in your application
-
Youth accepted into the program will be assisted with finding a suitable private teacher
