About Whole Note
Whole Note is a community-based initiative unique to Kamloops that supports youth musicians who face financial barriers, but are committed to fulfilling their music potential. Planned as a multi-year program beginning in Fall 2016, Whole Note provides a comprehensive, yet fun approach to music education through lessons, mentorship and performance opportunities for students in Grades 6 through 11.
Whole Note was developed under the leadership of Kim Mangan, who has served as the Executive Director of the Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music (KISSM) for the past decade, along with guidance and encouragement from members of the Kamloops Music Collective board. In recognition of the breadth of music expertise and community spirit within Kamloops, the development of the program has also involved other local and provincial music, arts and culture organizations and individual supporters to nurture the concept along.
The Collective has also received tremendous support from businesses and organizations within the region and beyond, which have served as sponsors and partners to ensure longevity of Whole Note.
Whole Note accepts applications from Kamloops students in Grades 6 through 11
