The Kamloops Music Collective's Fall 2020 Programs

The Kamloops Music Collective is proud to offer activities and programs for kids to take part in from the safety of their own home this Fall. Below is a list of programs will be taking place in the coming months to keep music and music education in your life, even through this pandemic.

The Show Must Go Online

An Online Musical Theater Production!

Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 29th - November 5th 

Prerequisite: In Grades 3 - 7, Beginners Welcome!

Time: 4:30 - 5:15 

Location: Online (Zoom)

Cost: By Donation

Instructor: Sam Bregoliss  Assistant: Mandy Maher

The Show Must Go Online! is an online musical theatre program for students interested in developing their performance skills in a safe and encouraging environment. This program is open to all skill levels and the musical has enough roles that every participant will play a part in the final production! The course will conclude with a live recording session where the students get to show their stuff! 


About the Show:

A frazzled DRAMA TEACHER sends a video message to her students from her home office, announcing that their production of Brushes With Greatness: The Dental Hygiene Musical has been canceled! She tries to hang up, but accidentally leaves the camera running, as she receives a phone call from the principal who tells her: without the musical, the drama program will be shut down.

Join the crew of actors who help save the drama program! 


The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley

An Online Musical Theater Program

Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 29th to November 5th

Prerequisite: In Grades 6 - 12 with some musical theatre experience.

Time: 5:30 - 6:30

Location: Online (Zoom)

Cost: By Donation

Instructor: Sam Bregoliss  Assistant: Mandy Maher

This is a 6-week program for students who are eager collaborate and perform in a specifically designed online musical theater show! Participants will take part in online classes every Tuesday and Thursday for the duration of the 6 week programs. There will be a recorded performance at the end of the program.


Level: Intermediate to experienced  Prerequisite: This program is designed for students who have some previous musical theater experience.

About the Show:

Stanley Lambchop is your ordinary, everyday boy until the bulletin board on the wall above his bed comes loose and falls right on top of him. The next morning, Stanley wakes up flat. In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley — the ultimate exchange student — scours the globe for a solution to his unusual problem. He's stamped, posted and cancelled from Hollywood and France to Honolulu and beyond, all in an effort to become a three-dimensional boy once more.

Online Family Ukulele Classes

Available For: Families with children over 7 years old  (no experience needed)

Duration: 6 Weeks, 30 minute lesson once per week. Running between Oct 1 - Dec 15th. 

Location: Online (Zoom)

Cost: $149 per family. A package will be available for pickup with all supplies needed 
Materials Deposit- $100 per family, refunded upon return of all equipment.

Instructor: Tina Hebner  Assistant: Mandy Maher

The Kamloops Music Collective is proud to introduce an opportunity that will allow families to experience music together!  Our online family ukulele classes allow you to learn ukulele at home, as a family with expert instruction from master ukulele player, Tina Hebner.  

All participating families will have a package made up for them which will include ukuleles, stands, sheet music, a tuner and any other necessary materials. There will be a $100 refundable fee required at the time of registration to acquire this package. Upon return of the supplies, the money will be returned. Once the program is concluded we ask that families once again return the supplies to the Kamloops Music Collective Office. After the registration is processed, we will be in touch to arrange the details!

Each family will work with the instructor to book a weekly time slot for their lessons.  Families will be encouraged to practice together throughout the week in preparation for their next lesson.

Whole Note Guitar Classes

Duration: 8 Weeks (Lessons will take place between Oct 1- Dec 15th) 

Available For: Students in grades 7 - 11 who face financial barriers

Location: Online (Zoom). We will arrange for the student to have a guitar, a stand, ect. 

Cost: $0

Instructor: Tina Hebner
Method: Selected students will work with Tina Hebner to book online lesson times

We will be giving 4 deserving students the opportunity to learn guitar this fall! Each of the chosen students will received 8 lessons over zoom. We will provide students with the guitars and all other necessary supplies to complete this program, at no charge to the families. 


This program is designed for young musicians who have a passion for music, but face barriers to learning as a result of financial restrictions. Students are not required to have any experience with guitar, only a strong desire to learn and a commitment to follow through with the lessons. We ask that only students who come from financially restricted households apply for this program.

Make Your Own Instrument Kit

We know that it’s been a challenging year for many, but the Kamloops Music Collective would like to help make the time you spend at home full of music and creativity! 

Have you got kids that love making crafts and music?  Now you can now order your own “make your own instrument” kits to be picked up at the KMC office, or mailed to your house. Once you’ve picked the instruments you want to make, all that’s left is to order and create! Continue scrolling below to view our picture tutorials and in depth instructions, family supervision is recommended for all instruments. Enjoy getting creative!

Financial Assistance

Finances should never prevent a child from participating in the arts. The Kamloops Music Collective is committed to making our programming accessible to as many children and youth in our community as possible. Our bursary program has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of local kids by helping them access in tuition-based programs at a reduced rate.  If you need financial assistance, please apply.    

KMC Bursaries are awarded on the basis of commitment to music and financial need. While we try to help as many youth as possible,  the number of bursaries that we approve is limited by the funding our organization receives from local donors. 

To be considered for financial assistance, applicants can complete an online application form and then email in supporting documents.  Your privacy matters to us and your information and situation never shared with anyone.
